செய்யாமல் செற்றார்க்கும் இன்னாத செய்தபின்
உய்யா விழுமந் தரும்.
விளக்கம்
தான் முன்பு துன்பம் செய்யாதிருக்க, தன்மீது பகைகொண்டு தனக்குத் துன்பம் செய்தவர்க்குத் தான் எதிர்த்துன்பம் செய்தால், அது பிழைத்ததற்கரிய துன்பத்தைக் கொடுக்கும்.

Though unprovoked thy soul malicious foes should sting,
Retaliation wrought inevitable woes will bring.
Meaning
In an ascetic inflict suffering even on those who hate him, when he has not done them any evil, it will afterwards give him irretrievable sorrow.
